This chain is gold-filled which is an excelent choice for everyday where. While the official recommendation is to remove it when showering or swimming and to avoid soaps and lotions, I willl tell you that I have personally worn this chain for weeks on end without removing it at all and it has held up beautifully. Of course, the quality of water and soap may be a factor so use your best judgememnt.
